All thanks and praise is due to Allah. We seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and the consequences of our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides will never be led astray, and whoever Allah leads astray will never find guidance. I bear witness there is no God but Allah, alone without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger.
Allah Almighty said, “O you who have faith, fear Allah as it is His right to be feared and do not die except as Muslims” (3:102)
And Allah Almighty said, “O people, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. Fear Allah, through whom you ask one another and maintain family ties. Verily, Allah is ever watching over you.” (4:1)
And Allah Almighty said, “O you who have faith, fear Allah and speak upright words. He will correct your deeds and forgive your sins. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has won a tremendous victory.” (33:70-71)
Verily, the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah, the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of affairs are newly invented matters. Every newly invented matter is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.
The blessed month of Ramadan is upon us, without the right planning and resources it can be easy for this month to fly past us without us realising, I myself have been a victim of this. We only have a short time, just think back to when this year started and how we are almost half way though this year already, just like that ramadan will come and go, so we need to make a conscious effort to improve ourselves in practice and knowledge of the Deen.
I have written a series of posts to help you increase your ability to understand surahs from a number of different aspects when they are being recited. It can be easy for the mind to wonder when the quran is being recited and you do not understand what is being recited. 30 days is not enough time to delve into the depths of Tafsir and full meaning of the Surahs in the Quran, so these blog posts will aim to be bite sized posts highlighting the following key elements from each Surah:
- The structure of the Surah, what topics are mentioned in the Surah
- Revelation – When was it revealed
- Key themes and messages from the Surah
- Selected verses from the Surah
- Virtues of the Surah
- Supplications from the Surah
- Further reading / listening – resources to gain a deeper understanding of the Surah
So this won’t be a deep insight to the depths of Tafsir, it is a high level overview that will allow you to take key points that are easy to remember and think and reflect upon them when the Surahs are being recited. I will be posting from Al-Fatihah to Al-Hijr, every second day I will post the next Surah in sha Allah.
I hope my time and efforts into this brings you benefit In sha Allah and if there are any suggestions or corrections that need to be made you can reach out to me on Instagram @saibnawaz or any of the @ramadanmovementcommunity team .
I would like to thank Zinab @breatheinbeautiful for another year of enabling this platform and community, and being the driving motivation behind these efforts, may Allah Jalla Jalaluhu reward her, and the tireless efforts of the rest of the team. Ameen.
I ask you to provide constructive feedback, and to also remember me in your Duas in this blessed month. May Allah allow us to reap the benefit of this month and elevate our status in this world and the hereafter. Ameen.
Aqulu qauli hada, wa astaghfirullaha li wa lakum walisairil muslimin, Fas taghfiruh, innahu huwal Ghafurur Rahim.
I say this saying of mine, and I seek forgiveness from Allah for me and for you, and to the rest of the Muslims, so ask Him for forgiveness, He is the forgiver, the Merciful.
